Because of the long unsolvable political problems, the problems of narcotic drugs have emerged and spread all over Shan State for a long time. Aiming for the eradication of the narcotic drugs problems, the Restoration Council of the Shan State have laid down the following policies:
- Strive to solve the political problems so that the country is peaceful and the people could live safely
- Raise awareness among the people about the dangers of narcotic drugs in the country and around the world
- Develop people’s lives by:
- Creating and providing decent livelihood
- Providing crops and mechanisms for crop-substitution in place of opium
- Construct roads for transportation
- Provide markets for trading legal merchandise
- Prohibit the use, cultivation, production, trading and transportation of narcotic drugs
- Cooperate with the global movement to prevent the dangers of narcotic drugs.
