In accordance with its drug eradication policy, RCSS opens the Drug Treatment Center at its headquarters, Loi Tai Leng for the rehabilitation of the drug users at 08:15 AM on March 9, 2020.
Attended at the opening ceremony were 569 persons which included the leaders, the officers from different departments, the Buddhist monks, the local residents, the students from national middle and high school and the drug treatment receivers.
The 1st Voice Chairman, Lieutenant General Sai Yee made the opening speech mentioning that the Drug Treatment Center is not for our troops as soldiers follow the disciplines not to use any type of narcotic drugs. It is for our people who become drug addicts to receive the treatment and become better persons.
The 2nd Voice Chairman, Major General Khur Nguen delivered his speech saying that 1. Narcotic drugs affect not only individuals but also our nation. 2. We all are citizens of Shan State and RCSS has the aim to offer the treatment because we don’t want to see Shan State people with low living standard.
Col. Aung Mya also stated that although we have been working on drug eradication policy, we couldn’t do much during the revolution. Narcotic drugs is not just danger to individuals but to our families and the world communities. That’s the reason we put great attention to the implementation of drug eradication policy.
The deputy head of the Department of Drug Eradication also gave awareness on the dangers of drugs. In this batch, there are 223 treatment receivers. The opening ceremony was successfully concluded at 10:40 AM with the closing remarks by the 1st Voice Chairman, Lieutenant General Sai Yee and the libation ceremony in Buddhist tratidion.
