On the 26 June World Anti Narcotic Day, RCSS announces that it will
cooperate with all the local as well as international organizations for drug
eradication.
RCSS absolutely supports the policy formulated by the government to
completely eradicate narcotic drugs throughout the country in 2015 and
will give full cooperation.
In 20112012, with its policy on drug eradication, RCSS/SSA seized one refinery, ICE, heroin, opium and
equipment used in refinery. Besides, it captured and punished 80 narcotic drug dealers and gives medical
treatment to 189 drug addicts. However, as there are still many drug manufacturers, dealers and consumers
within the region, to reduce the amount of narcotic drug related persons, RCSS will implement it through the
cooperation of the government and the regional ethnic groups.
After the ceasefire, RCSS mainly discussed about narcotic drug problems in the second union level meeting
with the union level peace making committee of the government in Kengtung on 19/05/2012. As a result, both
sides signed the agreement at the meeting to cooperate with one another on drug eradication. The proposals by
RCSS to solve the narcotic drug problems are as follow.
- 5 ways of suppression
- 3 ways of encouragement
- 6 ways of prohibition
- 5 WAYS OF SUPPRESSION
To suppress the producers of different kinds of narcotic drugs, the dealers, the transporters, poppy farmers and
the consumers.
- 3 WAYS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
To encourage crops substitution of poppy, the freedom of working freely in accordance with the law, and the
knowledge of narcotic drugs.
- 6 WAYS OF PROHIBITION
To prohibit the chemicals across the border areas, both internal and international narcotic drug dealers, the
producers and areas of production, consumers, poppy and marijuana growers and those protecting the narcotic
drug businesses.
To be able to implement the narcotic drug eradication plan, RCSS has proposed the necessary facts to the
government at the meeting.
In the narcotic drug eradication process, RCSS will, through the best possible way, exchange information and
work in cooperation with neighboring countries like China, Thailand and Laos, which face the same dangers of
narcotic drugs as in our country.
